Feelings regarding the end of the school year...

I just have to say that I LOVED reading what you all had to say in the "Don't Quote Me" extra credit. Not only did I get some great new quotes for next year, but I gained a substantial amount of insight into your take on what's important in school, life, etc. Learning about you so late in the school year makes me a little sad. I wish I would have known more sooner. While I admit I'm excited for the year to end (and to get to London!), I want you to know that you will be missed. All of you. I think it is important for you to know that, if I could have any job in the world, I would still be a teacher (and during my summers I would name nail polishes and I'd take off a week in February to be the first female handler of Puxatony Phil). But seriously, I love being a teacher. Please accept that about me. You don't have to think I'm a particularly good one. You don't have to agree with my method of delivery. You don't even have to think that I am funny:) But please never question that I care about "my kids" and that I love what I do. How could I not love a job where I am guaranteed to double over in laughter at least once a day?! I admire teenagers for their openness, their intelligence, their viewpoints on things that we adults seem to overanalyze, and most of all for their resilience. Thanks for making this a great school year. Jonathan Swift said, "May you live all the days of your life." I hope that you will.

Don't Quote Me Extra Credit

Hi all,

Most of you are aware that I am a big fan of inspirational quotations. I started my collection during my senior year of high school and have continued ever since. The only stipulation for a quote or saying becoming my "quote of the day" is that I must connect with it in some way. It might be humorous, inspirational, or just so darn true. I have obtained quotes from fiction books, song lyrics, by listening to speakers, and from my students.

Here's where I need your help. I want you to help broaden my quote collection. For 5 points of extra credit in the 4th marking period, please do the following:

• Find a quote that YOU connect with
• Post the quote and author/speaker (if known) in the form of a comment
• Also post a brief response as to why the quote is meaningful to you
